Privacy Policy

Omar's College Application Tracker · Effective August 28, 2026

This is a private, family-use application that helps one student track college applications, deadlines, essays, recommenders, and financial aid offers. It is not a commercial product, is not offered to the public, and has no users beyond a small allow-list of named family members.

What the application accesses

When you sign in with Google, the application requests two OAuth scopes:

userinfo.email — your Google account's email address, used only to check it against a hard-coded allow-list of permitted users. Anyone not on that list is rejected immediately and the access token is revoked.
spreadsheets — read and write access to Google Sheets, used solely to read and update the single spreadsheet that stores this tracker's data.

Where your data is stored

There is no application server and no third-party database. The application is a set of static files served from Cloudflare Pages, and it talks directly from your browser to Google's APIs.

Application data — schools, tasks, communications, decisions, recommenders, activities and aid figures — is stored in a single Google Sheet owned by the operator of this application. It is governed by that Sheet's own Google Drive sharing settings.
A small preference record (the GPA and test-score values used by the Chances calculator) may be kept in your browser's localStorage under the key omarChancesProfile. It stays on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.
Access tokens are held in memory for the duration of your session only. They are not written to disk, cookies, or any server.

What is not done with your data

Limited Use disclosure. This application's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Data is never sold, rented, or traded.
Data is never shared with third parties, advertisers, or data brokers.
Data is never used for advertising, profiling, or model training.
There is no analytics, tracking pixel, or telemetry of any kind.
Google Sheets data is not read beyond the single spreadsheet this tracker uses.

Revoking access

You can withdraw the application's access to your Google account at any time, and it takes effect immediately:

Go to myaccount.google.com/permissions
Select this application and choose Remove access

To clear the locally stored preference record, clear site data for this domain in your browser settings.

Data retention and deletion

Because all data lives in a Google Sheet owned by the operator, retention and deletion are controlled there directly. To have data relating to you removed, contact the operator using the address below and it will be deleted from the spreadsheet.

Children's privacy

This application is used by a family and includes a minor's own academic information, entered and reviewed by that student and their parent. It is not directed at the general public and collects no information from anyone outside the allow-list.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated. Given the private nature of the application, changes will be communicated directly to its users.
